Subject Overview of the MLQF 1231 and missing orders for SiMn

Luna follows the market price (in China)

  • from SiMn producers
  • Price changes once a month via tender (at the steel plants)
    • steel plant purchases materials once a month
  • Retail market price gets updated every week
  • Price in China depends upon
    • environmental factors (air pollution)
    • Manganese Ore Price
    • Met Coke

Who has the SiMn clients?

  • Luna Clients
    • Someta (Senegal)
      • They purchased 80mt in July
        • they got another company to pay USD to Millionlink
        • They have to pay agents charges/commission to 3rd party
        • Makes the cost higher
      • Problem with Payment, Cannot pay in USD
      • Looking to open a USD account in Dubai
        • maybe solved in 1 month
      • Previously they pay in CNY
        • Now the CNY exchange rate is bad
      • From India to Dakar (Senegal) is very far (40 days shipping)
      • Problem is the Bank Loans in HK (All bank loans are in USD)
    • 2 more Chinese Companies
      • These Chinese companies have a target prices of 1040USD/mt
      • Millionlink’s purchase price is currently 1080 USD/mt

        • Port Charges (100CNY /mt)
      • Waiting in Air Pollution to cause price to go up.
        • Chinese regulation
  • Natalie
    • Topy, Eikyuu (Japanese)
      • Price Problem
      • Their required price is 100USD/mt lower than Millionlink price
      • Indian producers are offering to them directly
        • They are buying in Bulk
        • To get long term contracts the Producers need to offer very low prices
        • The price the Japanese companies are buying for is lower than the price Neha can get from her suppliers
      • Normally will purchase 1000 – 3000 every 3 months (though 1 – 3million USD)
    • CarboMinerals (South America)
      • Require FeSiMn with low phosphorus
      • Their final price is 70USD/mt lower than our price
        • the low phosphorus should be of higher price
    • Casa (Equador)
      • Only purchase FeSiMn 65/17
      • Also price problems this year
      • They are getting a lower price from India

      • Customers are going directly to Indian suppliers
    • Tryvat (Ukraine)
      • bought 2 shipments from Millionlink

Subject Overview of the Customer Survey

Meeting Summary – Customer Satisfaction

Inner Customers – Other Staff Members

  • Serving each other in the department
  • Measure Sales & Purchasing Interactions
  • Demonstration of the new Billionlink Interaction Review System
  1. Requested tasks are not being completed
    • Inner Customer Satisfaction to ensure tasks are complete
      1. On Time
      2. Satisfactory standard

Konrad’s Unanswered Questions (didn’t get an opportunity to ask)

  1. How is it linked to the Job/Task?
  2. Is the feedback automatically activated?
  3. What happens if you ignore it?

Outer Customer – External Paying Customers

  • Customers are rarely filling out the survey form.
    • When are the survey forms sent out?
      • at the time of Payment (Natalie)
    • Forms are sent personally, the system doesn’t automatically send them out
  • Konrad needs to get an example of the email survey form
  • Other options
    • Have the customer service department call the customers to get their feedback
  • Main problems
    • Documentation errors
    • Quality of Product
    • Speed of shipment
  • Many of these issues are already known by Millionlink staff
    • These issues are not being recorded in a way that statistics can be easily made
    • We need to know the issues and problems that we are not aware of
  • Malfunction Reports – part of the ISO specification
  • IDEA : Abandon the survey form
    • Evaluate the customer experience during the sales process
      • talk about their complaints then
    • What to measure?
      • communication
      • malfunctions
      • complaints
      • ease of the process
      • ease of update / situation
      • Overall customer experience
  • Problems found by the billing departent
    • test results
    • delayed shipping
  • Malfuctions are recorded in each record, but they are not collated into statistics
  • Billing department handles most serious things
    • they do not contact the client directly
    • only sales/purchase department talks to clients directly
  • Any sales staff who receives customer appreciation
    • should communicate with the rest of the company… not currently happening
  • Sales staff to complete a “Contract Summary”
  • Look at ways to make the survey more useful

Suggest Thought Topics

The new program uses contract fulfillment to “collect” customer satisfaction information and measure customer satisfaction based on customer “behavior and speech”.
No longer after the contract is fulfilled
Send a customer satisfaction survey.
The following content is not satisfactory to the customer:
  1. The customer asks for the delivery time, asks if the letter of credit is received, asks if the advance payment is received, asks the bill of lading, and asks about the contents of the contract in the performance of the contract in advance, all of which are to the United States.
A slight dissatisfaction with the service.

    • The goal of the Millionlink service is: zero inquiry.
  2. The customer urges the delivery and urges the receipt, which is a slight dissatisfaction with the service.
    • The goal of the Midland: Zero urging.
  3. Complain, is the typical customer is not satisfied
  4. The claim is a customer’s serious dissatisfaction with the United States.
Customer dissatisfaction is the state of the customer’s mind. Even if the company does not default or the customer complains that it is unreasonable, it is also the customer’s dissatisfaction, which will affect the customer relationship / continuous order / business expansion.

Failure to express the above various types of dissatisfaction is customer satisfaction. The following content belongs to the customer award:

  1.  The customer expresses satisfaction/thank you/supplier certificate/supplier promotion certificate by email or other written form

The following indicators combine to express customer satisfaction from different perspectives:

  1. Customer general satisfaction = (number of sales contracts – number of sales contracts that customers are not satisfied with) / total sales contract
  2. Customer special satisfaction = customer credit sales contract amount / total sales contract
  3. Customer special dissatisfaction = (customer complaint + customer claim) / total sales contract

Active and passive collection of customer satisfaction information is collected and reported by the Funds Documents Department.
The chief trade representative and other managers who may collect customer satisfaction or not are obliged to report information about customer satisfaction to the Minister of Funds Documents.

Customer Satisfaction Survey

Konrad’s Notes

  • Customers are unlikely to fill out a survey form
    • very basic form, no branding, unprofessional appearance
  • Make the process for userfriendly
    • Alternative methods
      • Make the survey on the website
      • Survey on Wechat?
      • Survey on Facebook?
      • Survey on Email
      • Do a phone survey : independent staff (not sales)

Dongbu is worried about the size of the shipment

will contact head office when given a price

Chris

Pertamma – emphasise on the CRI (Coke strength indicator), very important for them. Must be about 35%. Otherwise tehy will not consider our product.
We don’t know the CRI of our product.
We should  ask Mexio the CRI of their regular BF Coke. NO : The supplier will not guarantee the CRI

Dongbu Metals – Limited the size (10 – 30mm 90%). this is a problem, our size is too variable.
we have too large a shipment for Dongbu… they want only 3000mt

Summer Update

为了配合钢厂10月份开始的采暖季限产,进一步缓解高锰市场压力,山西东方资源发展有限公司于9月25日开始检修3号高炉,检修时间4个月,检修期间每月高锰减少产量1.2万吨。
In order to tie in with the production restriction during the heating season, which began in October, the pressure on the high manganese market will be further relieved, Shanxi Oriental Resources Development Co., Ltd. began to repair No. 3 BF on September 25, the maintenance period of four months, the maintenance period of high manganese per month reduced production of 12,000 tons.

What product did they produce? FeMn? SiMn?

Making HCFeMn
Market for Manganese Alloy is currently saturated.
Reduction in supply will cause prices to rise
If the price of FeMn goes up, will the price of SiMn go up or down?
companies put furnaces into maintenance if the price is so low
FeMn uses very high quality Manganese Ore from Australia & SA
Companies are keen to buy Manganese Slag to lower costs
Putting furnace into maintenance will reduce the ferro manganese slag supply in china
stopping the furnaces as we go into winter to avoid the anti-pollution measures?? maybe not the reason
SiMn production in china is 7,000,000 t annually.
FeMn production is much less than SiMn
12,000 t per month = 144,000 t

Krakatoa Steel Met Coke

Indonesia has good quality coke (Low P – 0.05max, test results – 0.028)
The sizing is not consistent
Summer will investigate finding a company in Indonesia to process and sort the coke

  • Visa department will check all documents

Coke Promotion (Breeze / Nut )

Look to find SiMn & FeMn producers

Anybody who produces Manganese Brickette (Sintered)

Use Coke Breeze + Mn Ore, insert into a continuous Sintering Furnace, produces briquettes

  • Eramat Comilog
    • HuaZhou Mine (Gabon)
    • Cannot use our Coke Breeze from Mexico
      • We offered 70% Fixed Carbon
      • They require 84% Fixed Carbon (Low Ash)

Need to find other Sintered Furnace operators

  • Any companies which operate a Sinter furnace
  • All Sinter Furnace Companies sent to Yan Kun (Darlina)

Mexico Nut Coke

  • Phosphorous – 0.045%
  • India & European (Maybe South Korea) Foundries will use this percentage
  • DongBu (South Korea) will buy 12,000 MT per month
    • They prefer to buy from a Chinese supplier to guarantee supply
  • Millionlink minimum shipment is 20,000 MT
  • Japan customers buy Nut Coke imported from China
  • Some Companies produce low Phosporous SiMn hence cannot use the Mexico Coke Nut

Ferro Manganese / SiMn Producers

  • FerroGlobe
    • Connected primarily by Linked-In
    • Originally Yan Kun’s customer, but she hasn’t contacted anybody.
    • Konrad :

Ferro Chrome

FerroChrome plans using Coke Nut

  • South Africa
  • China
  • Turkey
    • Norway??? Indirim
  • Russia

SamanCore (Glencore)

  • SA most FerroAlloy plants located north of Pretoria
    • too far away from a Port to be economical to ship to
  • SA Needs to import Coke

SinoSteel

  • Has a plant in Zimbabwe
    • Maybe not controlled by sinosteel anymore

Qinshen

  • Has a metallurgical coke plant in Indonesia

FeNi

  • Production uses 2 Furnaces
    • 1st Step : uses a RKEF furnace (Rotary Kiln + Submerged Arc Furnace) : Ni Ore with Coke (or Anthracite) create a briquette
    • 2nd Step : melt briquette in electric furnace

Can we ship Nut Coke to China?

  • India Price USD$310 / MT
  • China has 16%VAT import duty
  • 2700rmb Price Met Coke Lumpy in China
  • USD$310 = RMB2124 (2018-09-20)
  • RMB 2124 + 16%VAT = RMB 2464
  • Maybe Profitable to Ship to China

Issues

  • Need to keep data up to date in the Billionlink System
